[Event] Bringing You the Action at Gamescom 2012!
It’s Gamescom 2012, the world’s largest video game event held every year in Germany. With over 275,000 visitors and 550 exhibitors, you can feel the energy and excitement pulsating in the air.
All sorts of companies are here at Gamescom showing off products from video games that haven’t hit store shelves yet to motion-detecting controllers and much more. Several visitors have even taken to dressing up as their favorite game characters adding an extra pizzazz to the festivities.
One of the most popular exhibits is LG’s where the company is displaying their advanced IPS Monitors which have been major hits with casual and professional gamers alike, as well as hosting unique ‘experience’ events for visitors.
We, now, take you on an inside tour of LG’s booth at Gamescom.
Lining Up for LG’s Booth
The crowd to get into LG’s exhibit is quite massive as you can see! But don’t worry – it’s moving briskly as LG took special care to organize its booth in a super efficient and visitor friendly manner.
At Main Stage
Although it’s been busy at LG’s booth throughout Gamescom, today there is an especially large crowd on hand. Why? Because on main stage LG Incredible Miracle (IM) team, the professional Starcraft 2 game team sponsored by LG and known around the world for its hefty collection of championships, has just hosted a special match for thrilled fans.
With the exciting match over, fans are now lining up to meet members of the IM team, including Jung Jong Hyun (aka “MVP”) and Jae Duk Im (aka “NesTea”) and get everything from their favorite video game covers to baseball caps to even T-shirts signed!

Here’s Jung Jong Hyun (aka “MVP”), the acclaimed gamer of LG IM team and also winner of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) gaming tournament held at Gamescom:
“Hello from Germany, LG Blog readers! Gamescom has been incredible this year, and LG’s support as usual has been tremendous. As you know, I’m a big fan of LG’s advanced IPS Monitors which are fantastic for gaming and which I personally use to train on. While here, I’m encouraging everyone to visit LG’s booth and check them out!
Moving On… Game Zone and Family Zone
Moving on from main stage, LG has setup the Game Zone and Family Zone where visitors of all ages can experience and personally dive into world famous games with LG products.
In Game Zone, the IPS Monitors that Jung Jong Hyun talked about are on exhibit including the IPS277L and DM2752D, and drawing high interest from Gamescom video game enthusiasts and experts. After hearing some of the best gamers around lavish praise on IPS monitors, visitors are eager to experience them first hand.
Leaving Game Zone, we’re being urged to stay by a group of gamers who say they’ve been here for hours. It seems they’re in gaming heaven – we don’t disagree!
Heading over to the Family Zone, visitors can enjoy console games on the LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV including the 55LM860, 55LM950 and 72LM950. The zone has actually been setup to resemble the feel of a modern living room allowing visitors to play games like they are at home. The unique concept of the zone has gathered long lines of both adults and kids alike.
The feature that makes LG’s 3D TVs so great is the glasses. In the Family Zone, a group of teenage visitors, in addition to the terrific 3D picture quality, keep raving about how the glasses are super light and so comfortable to wear. The comfort factor is especially huge for gamers who log long hours gaming, and their friends who watch and encourage them on.
Also on demonstration here is LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV’s use of 2D-3D conversion technology. Conversion technology allows you to take any 2D content and with a simple click of a button automatically convert it into high-quality 3D. Many are mentioning how they can’t wait to convert their large collection of 2D games, and enjoy them new in 3D.
See You Next Year!
Whew so there you have it! We’re out of breath, aren’t you?
If you weren’t able to make it out to Gamescom in person this year, we hope that you enjoyed this virtual tour and got a glimpse of where the future of video games is headed with advanced technology from LG.
