LG Cleft Lips Project & BreakOut Charity Performance

LG Cleft Lips Project is a fund-raising project that aims to provide treatment and care for patients who are affected by cleft lip and palate. LG Electronics is committed in its effort to help, change and improve the lives of underprivileged cleft lip and palate patients.

So what is actually cleft lip and palate? Cleft lip and palate are birth defects that affect the upper lip and the roof of the mouth which can be genetically passed down. A cleft lip and palate can affect the appearance of one's face and may lead to problems with feeding and speech. However, with a proper treatment, one can achieve a normal appearance and improve eating and speech capabilities and avoid long term discrimination. In short, one or more surgeries can give a cleft lip and palate patients a new smile and a new life.

LG Electronics has continuously engaged in discussions with a team of medical experts from the University of Korea, who specialize in cleft lip and palate cases. These medical experts have agreed to lend a helping hand by performing surgeries on a selected group of patients.

With the assistance and advice from Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY), a group of qualified patients had been identified for the surgeries.

And very recently, together with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), LG Electronics Malaysia had raised funds for the project by sponsoring the much acclaimed BreakOut Korean dance comedy. The show was held in both Kuala Lumpur and Pulau Pinang. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be channelled to the LG Cleft Lips Project. Some lucky readers of this blog, corporate clients and LG Electronics Malaysia staff were invited to witness the charity show.
