We recently gave 2 NGOs, House of Joy & Wisma Harapan some reasons to smile as recipients of LG's corporate social responsibility program, "Gift Of Hope".
House of Joy was given a boost by LG Malaysia who donated 60 units of CRT Monitors for the home's use as well as to sell it and raise funds while Wisma Harapan received some electrical items such as 2 refrigerators, a washing machine and a television set complete with the home theatre system for their daily use.
YB Datin Fauziah Idris, President of Selangor and Federal Territory Association for the Mentally Handicapped said, “The items donated by LG will benefit about 250 children in Wisma Harapan where the older students will be taught how to use these items properly so that they can independently manage these electrical items in their homes. Meanwhile the television will be used effectively to educate the mentally handicapped as it improves their knowledge, speech and skills by sustaining their interest in learning.”
Since the campaign started in 2006, LG has adopted 6 homes that have received necessary home electrical appliances. The six homes adopted are House of Joy, Rumah Charis, Grace Home, Kiwanis Job Training Centre and Good Samaritan Home with Wisma Harapan being the latest.
Mr. T.Y. Ko, Managing Director and CEO of LG Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd. said, “These organizations are doing wonderful and admirable work by reaching out to underprivileged children. Through love and care combined with education and skill training, the NGOs offers hope and opportunities to these children who will be part of the future generation and a better future in life.”
